Career Access Hackathon

Build a useful route into work.

One in-person day to build a working tool for people trying to understand vacancies, applications and employment information in the UK.

Thursday 8 October 202610:00–16:00, doors 09:45Firepool Centre, TauntonFree, 18+ only

The brief

Make something a jobseeker can actually use.

The target is a working web prototype for a later Career Access pilot, not a clever slide deck.

01Match

CV and vacancy matching

Help a person see where they fit, what is missing and what practical step could improve an application.

02Understand

Employment information

Make the UK employment system less of a maze, with clear signposting to useful support.

03Keep it safe

Official legal sources only

For rights and obligations, the tool must use current GOV.UK or ACAS sources, show the source and never guess.

How the day works

Turn up. Build. Show what works.

  1. 01

    Form a mixed team

Teams of 3–5. Developers, designers, HR professionals, community organisers, students and practical problem-solvers are all welcome.

  2. 02

    Use the safe data pack

CulturaLinks provides anonymised CVs, vacancies, user questions and official source links. No real personal data is needed.

  3. 03

    Pitch the working route

Show the panel what the user can do, why it helps and what needs testing before a pilot.

Before you reserve

Bring your laptop and a willingness to build.

Participation is free. The event is for adults aged 18 and over. Work created during the hackathon is for the Career Access pilot led by CulturaLinks Community CIC.
